Thar, Bullet, Rolex: Punjab constable ‘Insta queen’s’ Rs 1.35 crore in assets

New Delhi: A former woman constable of Punjab Police Amandeep Kaur has been booked in a corruption case after authorities found assets worth over Rs 1.35 crore that were allegedly amassed beyond her known income. Kaur, who had earned the nickname “Insta queen” for flaunting her lavish lifestyle on Instagram, was dismissed from service in April after she was caught with drugs.

On Monday, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau arrested Kaur for possessing disproportionate assets and registered a corruption case against her in Bathinda. According to officials, the assets were frozen under provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

Luxury items, land seized

The seized assets include a Mahindra Thar SUV worth Rs 14 lakh, a Royal Enfield Bullet motorcycle worth Rs 1.7 lakh, an iPhone 13 Pro Max, two other phones and a Rolex watch. Kaur also owns two residential plots in Bathinda—one in Virat Green (217 sq. yards) valued at Rs 99 lakh, and another in Dream City (120.83 sq. yards) worth over Rs 18 lakh. Her SBI bank account had a balance of Rs 1.01 lakh.

The investigation focused on her earnings, assets, bank statements, and loan history from 2018 to 2025. Officials found that while Kaur’s total known income during the period was Rs 1.08 crore, her expenses amounted to over ₹1.39 crore—exceeding her legal income by nearly Rs 31.27 lakh, or 28.85 per cent.

Kaur was arrested in April this year by the Anti-Narcotics Task Force for carrying 17.71 grams of heroin and was charged under the NDPS Act. She was released on bail on May 2. Known for regularly sharing reels of her luxurious lifestyle, including designer handbags, gold jewellery, and high-end accessories, Kaur’s social media presence raised eyebrows within the department and triggered a closer look at her finances. Following the inquiry, a case was registered on May 26 under the Prevention of Corruption Act at the Vigilance Bureau’s Bathinda station. The probe is ongoing.
