New Delhi: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Monday attacked Congress and said that India did not inform Pakistan before ‘Operation Sindoor’, and that there was a “dishonest misrepresentation of facts” concerning the strike, according to a report by CNN-News18.

Jaishankar was addressing a meeting of the Consultative Committee of MEA in New Delhi when he reportedly said that Pakistan was informed about Operation Sindoor only after it was conducted, even after a release by the Press Information Bureau (PIB). He told the panel, “The Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) in Pakistan was informed only after the strike, even after the first release by the PIB.”

He reportedly made those remarks following a heated exchange between the Opposition and the NDA at the meeting. Jaishankar also gave assurance to the panel that the government did its best in debunking fake news that Pakistan peddled regarding Operation Sindoor.

While panel members reportedly expressed concerns on terror threats in Punjab, and suggested that India should move ahead with offence and defence, Jaishankar told them India wanted to hit at terrorism’s epicentre and the headquarters of the terror outfits like Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed. He said the move was the first for any government in India, and also added that only three nations stood for Pakistan during the conflict.

He reportedly also said, “Also, India is extremely serious about the implementation of the abundance of Indus Waters Treaty, and the impact would be seen in the next few days. There is no confusion, whatsoever, that ‘Operation Sindoor’ will continue as long as Pakistan provokes India. There will be no talks with Pakistan, except on the Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (POK) and terrorism.”

The members of the panel also lauded the government for its befitting reply to Turkey. EAM Jaishankar also said that while India has no control over what US President Donald Trump said, the ceasefire with Pakistan was achieved by dint of bilateral talks only.
