New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate 103 redeveloped railway stations across India on Wednesday via video conferencing from Bikaner in Rajasthan. This marks a major milestone in the Union government’s ambitious Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS).

These have been developed at a cost exceeding Rs 1,100 crore and spans 86 districts across 18 states and Union Territories. The aim is to modernise railways with world-class passenger amenities.

The initiative is part of the larger Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, which envisions the redevelopment of over 1,300 railway stations across the country. The scheme integrates modern infrastructure with local architectural heritage while enhancing sustainability and accessibility, especially for persons with disabilities (Divyangjan).

In a statement, the Ministry of Railways said, “The redevelopment of these stations focuses on improved passenger experience, streamlined station access, upgraded facilities, and better integration with urban transport systems. This will significantly contribute to ease of travel and economic upliftment.”

Redeveloped stations

Among the stations set for inauguration are five in Karnataka: Gadag, Dharwad, Bagalkot, Munirabad, and Gokak Road. These stations have undergone major infrastructural upgrades.

The inaugural list also includes stations from states such as Maharashtra (Parel, Chinchpokli, Wadala Road), Uttar Pradesh (Bijnor, Saharanpur Junction, Agra Idgah), Gujarat (Morbi, Okha, Palitana), Tamil Nadu (Chidambaram, St. Thomas Mount), Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, West Bengal, and the Union Territory of Puducherry (Mahe).
