New Delhi: A high-level meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) will be held on Wednesday at 11 am to review the progress and strategy of Operation Sindoor, India’s large-scale military response to Pahalgam terror attack. The meeting will be attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and senior officials from the army, intelligence and paramilitary forces.
According to sources, the committee will discuss various aspects of the ongoing security operations. The status of military deployment, intelligence inputs, counter-terror actions taken so far, and future plans to safeguard national security will also be discussed. This is not the first such meeting. A similar discussion had taken place earlier when the government was planning its response to the April 22 terror attack.
Pahalgam terror attack and what Operation Sindoor achieved
On April 22, terrorists opened fire on a tourist bus in Pahalgam, killing 26 innocent civilians. The attack drew strong nationwide outrage. In response, the Indian government launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 to target terrorist camps and infrastructure across the border in Pakistan.

Under Operation Sindoor, Indian Army successfully destroyed nine terrorist hideouts inside Pakistan. Over 100 terrorists were killed in these strikes. The action stunned Pakistan, which responded with drone attacks. However, India intercepted and destroyed these drones mid-air. In a further escalation, India also targeted a Pakistani airbase as part of its response.
India-Pakistan ceasefire
Pakistan, shaken by India’s strong and precise response, reached out to the United States for support. Eventually, the Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) of Pakistan contacted his Indian counterpart to request a ceasefire. Both countries later agreed to a ceasefire, and the situation along the border has since remained calm. However, Indian officials made it clear that Operation Sindoor was still active and that any further provocation would be met with a strong reply.
PM Modi meets soldiers at Adampur air base
A day before the CCS meeting, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Adampur air base on Tuesday. He met the soldiers involved in Operation Sindoor and praised their efforts.
The PM said that India had given a strong and unforgettable message to Pakistan for supporting terrorism. He also stated that India’s approach to terrorism had changed, now, any attack would be answered in India’s own way, at a time and place of its choosing.
