New Delhi: In a major military escalation following the Pahalgam terror attack, India launched “precision airstrikes” against four major Pakistan Air Force (PAF) bases on May 10, with newly released satellite imagery now confirming extensive damage.
This decisive action, aimed at delivering a powerful message to Pakistan regarding its stance on terrorism, came after an initial wave of strikes targeted nine terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) in response to the attack that killed 25 tourists and one local Kashmiri.
High-resolution satellite images from Indian private firm KAWASPACE and Chinese company MizhaVision graphically illustrate the aftermath of the Indian offensive. The attacks are believed to have utilised air-launched cruise missiles (ALCM), potentially the BrahMos, to achieve pinpoint accuracy.
The evidence reveals critical damage to PAF infrastructure:
PAF Bholari: This airbase suffered one of the most severe impacts. KAWASPACE imagery clearly shows a major hangar, likely used for quick reaction missions due to its proximity to the destroyed runway. Structural debris is visibly strewn across a wide area.

PAF Shahbaz (Jacobabad): Indian missiles accurately struck this base, causing serious damage to a hangar located on the main apron. Minor and possible secondary damage to the Air Traffic Control (ATC) building has also been estimated from the imagery.

Sargodha Airbase: Photographs that emerged shortly after the May 10 strikes, corroborated by later satellite views, indicated light but strategically significant damage to the runway and surrounding structures. The purpose of the attacks is believed to be to limit the operational capability of the base.

Noor Khan Airbase (Rawalpindi): Images released by MizhaVision show that India’s primary targets at this crucial base were ground support vehicles and essential infrastructure. The objective was evidently to cripple the base’s logistics and support systems, thereby hampering its operational readiness.

After the satellite pictures of the attacks were released, defence analysts suggest that by directly hitting PAF assets, India has signalled to Pakistan that future responses to terrorism will not be confined to diplomatic channels but will involve direct and substantial military action.
