‘How is the Josh?’: J&K LG asks security personnel in Uri | Here’s the response he received

New Delhi: Amid ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday visited Uri sector amid ceasefire violation by the neighbouring country. He also met personnel of the security forces to take stock of the situation.

During his visit, the LG assessed the destruction caused by the Pakistani firing. He also visited the border areas of Lagma and Gingal villages and met the affected families. The Lg who also interacted with security personnel in Uri, asked, “How is the josh?”. To this, the personnel replied, “High, sir”.

‘LG takes an assessment of the damage in civilian areas’

“Took assessment of the damage to the civilian area and residential houses caused by unprovoked shelling by Pakistan in the border villages of Lagama and Gingal in Uri. I’ve directed the district admin to provide immediate relief to the affected families and ensure their safety and security,” The LG wrote on X.

He added, “Met the injured residents of Uri at the GMC Baramulla & prayed for their quick recovery. The nation is wholeheartedly behind the affected families in all aspects. Directed officials to provide the best possible treatment & care. We will avenge their suffering by defeating the enemy.”

Earlier on Thursday, he was briefed by officials on actions taken to ensure the safety of the public and cyber security. He asked officials to deal with strictly any efforts to disturb disturb public. The LG also asked them to take steps to prevent fake news.

“I have full confidence in the ability of officials, police, and security forces to face any emergency situation. Seamless coordination among the administration, police, and armed forces is key in the present situation. Deputy commissioners and senior superintendents of police must visit vulnerable areas together, spend time with people on the ground, focus on their needs, and remain responsive,” news agency PTI quoted him as saying.

He added, “We have to take precautionary measures and be prepared for exigencies. Ensure effective execution of evacuation plan and other standard operating procedures. Basic facilities should be kept ready at shelter centres.”
