National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval reached out to key international counterparts to share details of Operation Sindoor, which saw targeted strikes on nine terror-linked locations across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) on Wednesday.
Doval reportedly held telephonic conversations with top security officials, including US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, UK NSA Jonathan Powell, Saudi NSA Musaid Al Aiban, UAE NSA Sheikh Tahnoon, Secretary General of the UAE’s National Security Council Ali Al Shamsi, and Japan’s NSA Masataka Okano.
According to reports, Doval also established contact with Russian NSA Sergei Shoigu, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi — who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China — and Emmanuel Bonne, diplomatic adviser to French President Emmanuel Macron.
The NSA reportedly briefed his counterparts on actions taken and the method of execution, measured as non-escalatory and restrained. Doval underscored that India had no intent to escalate but was well prepared to retaliate resolutely should Pakistan decide to escalate.
These interactions took place just hours after Indian forces carried out the high-level operation targeting terror infrastructure in the wake of the recent Pahalgam attack that left 26 people dead, including 25 Indians and one Nepali citizen.
“These steps come in the wake of the barbaric Pahalgam terrorist attack in which 25 Indians and one Nepali citizen were murdered,” the Indian Army said in a statement. “We are living up to the commitment that those responsible for this attack will be held accountable,” it added.
Sources revealed that the country’s top military leadership was closely involved in overseeing Operation Sindoor, ensuring all measures were taken to avoid civilian harm and to keep the strikes within a non-escalatory framework.
Doval assured his counterparts that India remains in regular contact with international partners and will continue diplomatic outreach in the days ahead to keep them informed of any developments.
