New Delhi: Even though the monsoon is still over a month away, many parts of India have already started experiencing pre-monsoon weather. India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an important alert for Monday, forecasting rain and thunderstorms in some areas while warning of continued heat in others.

North-West India is expected to get some relief from the rising heat. The IMD said that due to a western disturbance, there could be light rain and thunderstorms in this region. Delhi-NCR may see light rain and dust storms with wind speeds between 40 to 50 kmph. This will bring a temporary break from the heat that has been troubling the residents for days.

In Uttar Pradesh, light to moderate rain is likely in eastern parts (Purvanchal), while western areas might experience a dust storm and partly cloudy skies. Some cooling is expected due to these changes.

The weather in Rajasthan will be mixed. Light rain is expected in areas like Jodhpur, Bikaner and Jaipur. However, the heat will continue in eastern parts of the state, where temperatures might cross 42°C. In western Rajasthan, rain may bring some relief from the heat wave.

Haryana and Punjab are also on alert for thunderstorms and light rain with strong winds. These changes could help cool down the temperature in the coming days.

IMD has issued a rain alert for Bihar and Jharkhand. On Monday, dust storms and light to moderate rain may occur in many parts of both states. A yellow alert has been announced for Bihar’s Patna, Gaya, and Bhagalpur. In Jharkhand, cities like Ranchi and Jamshedpur may receive some light showers.

While some states are getting rain, Central India is likely to stay hot. In Madhya Pradesh, areas like Jabalpur and Sagar may see light rain, but the heat will remain strong in cities like Bhopal and Indore. Temperatures in these cities could reach around 41°C on Monday.

In Maharashtra, light rain is expected in Vidarbha and Marathwada regions. However, cities like Mumbai and Pune will remain dry. Akola could record temperatures up to 44°C.

The IMD has also said that states in South and East India will continue to receive pre-monsoon rain over the next few days. These showers are expected to provide some relief from the summer heat, but hot and humid weather may still continue in certain areas.
