‘Ghar mein ghus ke baith jana’: Asaduddin Owaisi urges Centre to take decisive action against Pakistan in aftermath of Pahalgam terror attack

New Delhi: Amid increasing tensions between India and Pakistan after the Pahalgam terror attack in which at least 26 civilians were killed, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief and Lok Sabha MP Asaduddin Owaisi urged the Centre to take decisive action against Islamabad. He also suggested Centre to take tougher action beyond cross-border strikes against the neighbouring country.

The Hyderabad MP, while speaking to reporters on Thursday, said that a resolution was already passed in the Parliament declaring Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) an integral part of India. “If any action is taken this time, then it should be ‘Ghar mein ghus ke baith jana’ (enter their house and stay). Earlier, it was said ‘Ghar mein ghus ke maarenge’ (enter and kill), now it should be ‘enter and stay.’ That’s what should happen,” news agency PTI quoted him as saying.

‘Opposition parties urging Govt to end terrorism’

Pointing to several terror attacks in the past, including 26/11, Pulwama, Pathankot, Uri, and Reasi, he added that terrorism must be eradicated. “All opposition parties are urging the government to end terrorism.”

The relationship between India and Pakistan further nosedived in recent days following the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, in which several people were also injured. Among the victims were mostly tourists.

Soon after, India announced a number of steps against Pakistan, including suspending the Indus Water Treaty and reducing its staff in Islamabad. Islamabad reciprocated by closing its air traffic for Indian airlines and suspending the Simla agreement. Following this, India, too, closed its air traffic for Pakistan airlines.

In recent times, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a number of meetings after the Pahalgam attack. He has also given a free hand to defense forces and them to choose mode of attack and locations themselves.
