New Delhi: In the backdrop of escalating tensions between India and Pakistan after the Pahalgam terror attack, the Indian Navy has demonstrated its long-range precision strike capabilities by carrying out multiple anti-ship missile tests in the Arabian Sea.

Sharing visuals of the exercise, the Navy showcased the launch of BrahMos anti-ship and anti-surface cruise missiles from various frontline warships, including Kolkata-class destroyers as well as Nilgiri and Krivak-class frigates. According to officials, the drills were conducted to reaffirm the combat readiness of the ships, systems, and crews for executing precision offensive operations at sea.

‘Anytime, Anywhere, Anyhow’

“Indian Navy Ships undertook successful multiple anti-ship firings to revalidate and demonstrate readiness of platforms, systems, and crew for long-range precision offensive strike. The Navy’s successful missile drills come on the heels of Pakistan issuing a notification about planned missile tests in the Arabian Sea, adding to concerns over rising military tensions between the two countries. India’s show of maritime strength follows the April 22 terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, which claimed 26 lives, marking one of the deadliest assaults since the abrogation of Article 370.

Tensions escalate after attack

In the wake of the attack, India has stepped up diplomatic pressure by deporting Pakistani nationals and suspending the crucial Indus Waters Treaty. In retaliation, Pakistan has announced the suspension of all bilateral agreements with India. The situation has further worsened with multiple ceasefire violations reported along the Line of Control (LoC). Indian forces have responded robustly to these provocations, but no casualties have been reported so far.
