His statement came days after the Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 people were killed and several others were injured. The incident led to further deterioration of ties between India and Pakistan with New Delhi announcing a number of steps against Pakistan including the suspension of the Indus Water Treaty. Pakistan, on the other hand, announced the closure of its airspace for Indian airlines.

Earlier on Thursday, the Chief Minister noted that while terrorism is breathing its last in India the nation must believe in the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. Pointing out the Pahalgam incident, he also noted that the targeting of innocent individuals based on their religious identity is intolerable. “To ask people their religion before killing them, turning women widows is unacceptable in India,” he said as per PTI.
