BJP’s Raja Iqbal elected as new mayor of Delhi

New Delhi: Delhi now has a “triple engine government” as Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured the mayor’s post in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). Raja Iqbal Singh from BJP was elected as the new mayor of Delhi on Friday.

In the mayoral election, a total of 142 votes were cast. Raja Iqbal Singh received 133 votes, while Congress candidate Mandeep Singh got 8 votes. One vote was declared invalid.

After becoming the mayor, Raja Iqbal Singh thanked the top leadership of his party. He said that he would work together with both the ruling side and the opposition. He also promised that all decisions for Delhi’s citizens would be made without any discrimination.
