PM Modi to inaugurate Bihar’s first Namo Bharat Rapid Rail between Jaynagar and Patna on state visit

Patna: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate Bihar’s first Namo Bharat Rapid Rail (Vande Metro) today, connecting Jaynagar and Patna. He will flag off the train at a ceremony organised in Jhanjharpur, Madhubani. Alongside this state-of-the-art train, the Amrit Bharat Express will commence operations between Saharsa and Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (Mumbai), along with two new passenger trains running between Saharsa-Alauli and Bithan-Samastipur. The railway administration has completed all preparations for these services.

Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of the Samastipur Railway Division, Vinay Srivastava, stated that the Namo Bharat Rapid Rail will travel from Jaynagar to Patna, making stops in Samastipur, Darbhanga, Sakri, Madhubani, Barauni, Mokama, and Bakhtiyarpur. The train will depart from Jaynagar today at 11:40 AM and arrive in Patna at 6:30 pm, stopping at the following stations: Madhubani at 12:25 pm, Sakri at 12:55 pm, Darbhanga at 1:40 pm, Samastipur at 3:00 pm, Barauni at 4:15 pm, and Mokama at 5:15 pm. This train will operate six days a week and will cover the distance in just 4 hours and 50 minutes, significantly reducing the current travel time of 6-7 hours.

The DRM highlighted that this fully air-conditioned train will consist of 16 modern coaches similar to metro trains. It will feature amenities like an armour security system, CCTV, automatic doors, high-speed Wi-Fi, USB charging points, vacuum toilets, and ergonomic seats. The train is capable of running at a speed of 160 km/h and can accommodate over 2,000 passengers. Additionally, the Amrit Bharat Express will start operations on the same day, travelling from Saharsa to Lokmanya Tilak Terminus in Mumbai. This non-AC train will leave Saharsa at 11:40 am and reach Mumbai the next day at 11:30 am, making stops at Samastipur (3:00 pm), Muzaffarpur, Patna, and Danapur.

Important information about train schedule

On 24 April 2025, Train No. 05597 Jaynagar-Patna will depart from Jaynagar at 11:40 am as a special Namo Bharat Rapid Rail. It will also have a morning schedule, leaving Jaynagar at 5:00 am and arriving at Patna Junction at 10:30 AM, with stops at Madhubani (5:28 am), Sakri (5:43 am), Darbhanga (6:15 am), Samastipur (7:25 am), Barauni (8:45 am), Mokama (9:24 am), and Barh (9:38 am).

Regular operations for Train No. 94803 Jaynagar-Patna will begin on 25 April 2025, running six days a week except Sundays.

Train No. 94804 Patna-Jayanagar will depart from Patna at 6:05 pm and arrive in Jaynagar at 11:45 pm, stopping at Barh (6:42 pm), Mokama (6:58 pm), Barauni (8:00 pm), Samastipur (9:00 pm), Darbhanga (10:08 pm), Sakri (10:38 pm), and Madhubani (11:00 pm). This train will operate six days a week, except Saturdays.

Changes to other trains

Due to the launch of the Namo Bharat Rapid Rail, the stoppage timings for the following trains have been revised:

– Train No. 15502 Jogbani-Raxaul Express: New time at Darbhanga 6:50/7:20 (effective from 25.04.25).
– Train No. 13185 Sealdah-Jaynagar Ganga Sagar Express: New time at Darbhanga 6:37/6:52 (effective from 26.04.25).
– Train No. 15910 Lalgarh-Dibrugarh Avadh Assam Express: New time at Barauni 8:55/9:05 (effective from 25.04.25).
– Train No. 63222 Patna-Mokama MEMU: New departure time from Patna 6:15 PM (effective from 25.04.25).
– Trains No. 15271, 15233, 15235 (Howrah-Muzaffarpur/Darbhanga): New time at Barauni 8:30/8:40, at Samastipur 10:00/10:05, at Muzaffarpur 11:10, and at Darbhanga 11:15 (effective from 25.04.25).
