Attempt to divert or stop Indus water by India an act of war: Pakistan

New Delhi: Pakistan has reacted to India’s strong actions in the wake of Pahagam attack and that any attempt to divert or stop water meant for Pakistan under Indus Water Treaty will be considered Act of War.

Pakistan is also a major beneficiary of Indus water through its tributaries as the water is crucial to its agriculture and economy.

India took multiple measures on Wednesday after terrorists gunned down 26 tourists in Baisaran valley in Pahalgam in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday.

Apart from closing Attari border in Amritsar India, cancelling visas to Pakistani nationals, India has also suspended the Indus Water Treaty with Pakistan. All these decisions were taken by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a meet on Cabinet Committee on Security.

PM Modi on Tuesday also indirectly warned Pakistan of severe consequences beyond imagination during a rally in Bihar.

Meanwhile, Pakistan has also suspended visas to Indian nationals under SAARC visa exemption scheme. In a tit-for-tat move, Islamabad has also decide to reduce Indian diplomatic staff to 30 persons.

Pakistan has also shut its airspace to Indian airlines as well as closed Wagah border crossing.

Earlier on Wednesday, India also expelled military advisors from Pakistan as a strong message to Pakistan in the aftermath of Pahalgam attack.

On Thursday, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a high-level cabinet meet including chiefs of armed forces to decide on the future course of action as India took strong actions against Pakistan.
