‘Tamil Nadu will never yield to Delhi’s rule’: MK Stalin challenges Amit Shah

New Delhi: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K Stalin on Friday lashed out at the central government and challenged them to form government in the next year’s state assembly elections. He said that the people of Tamil Nadu will never yield to Delhi’s power and their tactics won’t work in the state.

While addressing a rally in Tiruvallur, Stalin continued to target the central government with his questions on exemption from NEET examination for the state students, imposition of Hindi language through NEP’s three-language formula, and the guarantee of not reducing parliamentary seats under delimitation. His remarks were against Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who was present during the announcement of the AIADMK-BJP alliance on April 11.

“Union Minister Amit Shah says they will form a government here in 2026. I challenge him – Tamil Nadu will never yield to Delhi’s rule. That may work elsewhere through party poaching and raids, but not here. This formula won’t work in Tamil Nadu,” Stalin said.

Stalin on BJP’s tactics

Last month, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan  slammed the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party amid the three-language policy in the NEP. He called the southern regional party dishonest, uncivilised, and undemocratic and said it isn’t committed to the future of students of Tamil Nadu.

Stalin said that such claims to divide the state would fail and the Tamil Nadu CM even targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying that he made disparaging remarks on Tamilians in Odisha.

“These tactics won’t work here. Tami Nadu cannot be divided through politics,” Stalin said.

On April 15, Stalin moved a resolution in the Tamil Nadu Assembly to form a high-level committee, whose responsibility was to give recommendations to enhance state’s power and reclaim its rights for a better state autonomy. The three-member committee will be headed by Justice Kurian Joseph, who is a retired Supreme Court Judge.
