New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the name of women achievers who would take care of his social media sites on the occasion of International Women’s Day. The women who were given the honour for the day included two scientists and a woman who started her own company in her village.

Among them included Vaishali Rameshbabu (Chennai, Tamil Nadu), Dr Anjlee Agarwal (Delhi), Anita Devi (Nalanda, Bihar), Elina Mishra (Bhubaneswar, Odisha), Ajaita Shah (Rajasthan), and Shilpi Soni (Sagar, Madhya Pradesh).

Know about women achievers

While the women are from various fields, Vaishali Rameshbabu is a chess player who has been competing at the highest level since she was six years old. Last year, she won the prestigious title of Chess Grandmaster.

Known as the Mushroom Lady of Bihar, Anita Devi established the Madhopur Farmers Producers Company in her village in 2016. Through the cultivation of mushrooms, Anita not only helped in the uplifting of several women in society but also helped in creating employment opportunities for several others.

The list also included Elina Mishra and Shilpi Soni, two distinguished scientists Of the two, Elina Mishra is a nuclear scientist at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Mumbai, while Shilpi Soni is a space scientist at the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).

A well-known advocate for universal accessibility, Dr Anjlee Agarwal, who is also part of the list, is the founder of Samarthyam Centre for Universal Accessibility. She has spent close to three decades of her career ensuring inclusive mobility and barrier-free infrastructure. She played a significant role in making schools and public spaces across the country more accessible for people with disabilities.
