He will reach Dehradun airport at 8 am and then proceed to Harshil. After addressing the public meeting there, he will visit Mukhba and return after his speech.

PM will lay the foundation for world’s second-highest trek

During his visit to Mukhba and Harshil, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for the world’s second-highest trek, Janaktal in Jadung Valley, and Mulingna Pass in Neelapani Valley. These new treks are expected to open new dimensions of tourism in the valley, which has been closed since the Indo-China war in 1962. The administration is preparing to start treks on the Neelapani-Mulingna Pass, which will be developed on the lines of Ladakh.

PM’s visit raised hopes of boosting tourism in the district

The proposed visit of PM Modi to Mukhaba and Harshil valley has raised hopes of boosting tourism in the district. After the 1962 war, Sonam Valley, including Nelang and Jadung, was converted into a cantonment, and the movement of local people and tourists was stopped. However, plans are now underway to develop the area based on its geographical conditions, similar to Ladakh.

DM Dr. Meherban Singh Bisht stated that the aim is for PM Modi to inaugurate these two treks during his visit, giving a new dimension to adventure tourism in the Nelang-Jadung valley. Construction of homestays has also started under the Vibrant scheme to settle Nelang and Jadung villages.

District administration is making extensive preparations

The district administration is making extensive preparations for PM Modi’s visit. Uttarkashi district magistrate, Dr. Meherban Singh Bisht has directed all departments and organizations to be fully prepared and ensure all arrangements are foolproof. Officials working in the Harshil area have been instructed to use mobile networks, satellite phones, and wireless networks for communication. Satellite phones are being provided to officials of various departments to ensure seamless communication. The administration is also monitoring avalanche-prone areas on the Gangotri National Highway and deploying sufficient machines at marked places to keep the road open.

Power lines are also being repaired to ensure uninterrupted power supply

The DM has ordered the availability of machines from the local divisions of the Public Works Department and PMGSY to assist the BRO. Additionally, arrangements are being made for generators with sufficient capacity to ensure alternative power supply in Harshil. The power lines are also being repaired to ensure uninterrupted power supply during the visit.
