Dehradun: With the announcement of the dates for the opening of portals of four shrines, the state government has intensified its preparations for the Char Dham Yatra in the state. At a meeting, the state’s health department officials discussed the health-related arrangements being made for the Yatra beginning from April 30.

The health department has asked its officials to increase the number of Medical Response Points, improve the number of screening points, and complete the task of health registration of the devotees at the earliest possible. Besides, the steps have been taken to issue health advisory on the Yatra route.

Proposal to increase the number of Medical Response Points

In a press release, the state’s health secretary R Rajesh Kumar said a total 26 Medical Response Points and 50 Screening Points will be available on the Yatra route. Keeping in mind the possible increase in the arrival of devotees for the Char Dham Yatra, there is a proposal to increase the number of Medical Response Points on the Yatra route. He has also directed the officials concerned to expand the Screening Points.

Srinagar Medical College to complete its preparations for the Yatra

He has also directed the authorities concerned of the Srinagar Medical College to complete the preparations relating to the upcoming Yatra within stipulated time. Medical experts and officers will be available on their duty as per the rotation system. For the safety of the devotees in the high-altitude areas, a special training will be given by the master trainers of the Doon medical college as well as Srinagar Medical College.

Mandatory for the devotees to get registered on the portal

It will be mandatory for the devotees to get registered on the “Swasthya Dham Portal”. The officials concerned have been directed to upload the health profile of the devotees who are above the age of 50 years.

Necessary information regarding health services to be made available for devotees

At the bus stops, hotels, and other prominent places on the yatra route, banners will be put to give information such as health advisory, nearest health centres, and contact numbers of the medical officers to the devotees. “Swasthya Mitra” will be also appointed to help the devotees for their health-related problems on the Yatra route on the contract basis. A control room will be set up at the state’s health department’s headquarters to monitor the health services available on the Yatra route.
