New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a public rally in Bihar’s Bhagalpur on Monday will release the 19th instalment of the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme. The financial assistance will be transferred directly to the bank accounts of over 9.8 crore eligible farmers across the country, amounting to approximately Rs 22,000 crore under the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system. Over 80 lakh farmers in Bihar are also expected to benefit from the cash transfer.

Farmers from across neighbouring districts are expected to participate in the rally which is scheduled for 11am. Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar along with other National Democratic Alliance (NDA) leaders will also be present at the stage with PM Modi. The event is being seen as a strategic move by the NDA to consolidate its voter base ahead of assembly elections in the state, later this year. Over 40,000 people are expected to attend his rally.

PM-Kisan provides financial support of Rs 6,000 annually

The PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme which was launched in 2019 provides financial support of Rs 6,000 annually to eligible farmers in three instalments of Rs 2,000 each. The payments are made every four months: April-July, August-November, and December-March. Farmers who have completed e-KYC and land verification will receive the 19th instalment today. The 18th instalment was released in October 2025.

To receive the latest instalment, farmers must have completed their e-KYC verification. This can be done via the official PM-Kisan website or Common Service Centres (CSCs).

Assembly elections in Bihar

PM Modi’s visit to Bhagalpur comes at a crucial time, as Bihar is for assembly elections later this year. The BJP will contest the elections in alliance with other NDA partners, aiming to challenge the opposition’s Mahagathbandhan coalition.

Ahead of PM Modi’s visit, NDA leaders, including BJP’s Mangal Pandey and JD(U)’s Sanjay Jha, convened in Purnia to strategise for the elections. The rally is being seen as a show of strength by the ruling alliance as they gear up for the upcoming polls. Along with the financial aid, PM Modi is also likely to announce development projects worth over Rs 2,000 crore for the state.
