Delhi CM oath-taking ceremony: Rekha Gupta gets Z category security
Delhi Assembly’s first session to begin from Feb 24, CAG reports to be tabled on 25

New Delhi: The upcoming Delhi Assembly session, set to start on February 24, promises a dramatic showdown as the newly elected Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government prepares to table 14 pending Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) reports.

This move, spearheaded by incoming Speaker Vijender Gupta, is anticipated to expose alleged financial irregularities during the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government’s tenure.

The first day will be dedicated to the swearing-in ceremony and the election of the speaker, with Vijender Gupta widely expected to assume the role. The following day, February 25th, will be marked by the tabling of the CAG reports—a move Gupta has been advocating for years.

Gupta, in a post on X, confirmed the scheduling of the reports, highlighting their significance. He had previously predicted the reports would be detrimental to AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal, comparing their potential impact to that on the Congress-led UPA-II government.

“Today, I had a meeting with Chief Minister Smt. @gupta_rekha ji and discussed in detail the agenda of the upcoming assembly session. The reports of #CAG will be presented on the table of the Assembly on February 25,” Gupta posted on X.

The Delhi BJP President, Virendra Sachdeva, framed the tabling of the reports as a demonstration of the new government’s commitment to fighting corruption, directly contrasting the BJP’s approach with that of the previous AAP administration.

Gupta’s long-standing campaign to release the CAG reports underscored the AAP government’s reluctance to make them public. Gupta’s concerns, voiced repeatedly during his tenure as the Leader of Opposition, alleged that the AAP suppressed these reports due to their potentially damaging revelations about blunders, corruption, and misuse of public funds.
