Sambhal: Months after riots in Uttar Pradesh’s district of Sambhal, the probe in the matter revealed that several accused absconding in the case might be in touch with Mohammad Usman, an accused who is currently lodged in Lahore Jail in Pakistan.

A resident of the Deepa Sarai area in Sambhal, Usman was believed to be in contact with AQIS chief Maulana Asim Umar, who was killed by an American soldier in Afghanistan in 2019. Earlier in January, the Ministry of External Affairs shared documents related to Usman’s arrest with the Sambhal Police and is now preparing a report on this matter. After being taken into custody in Lahore, Usman shared the names of some of the people in Smbhal. Among them included the name of former Sambhal MP Safi ur Rehman.

Sambhal Police releases posters

Meanwhile, the Sambhal Police has released the posters of those who are believed to be involved in the involved in Sambhal violence. Apart from this, the police will also put up hoardings to gather more information related to the accused The police are also probing every video of the violence.

Last week, the police arrested a person who shared misleading videos on social media about the violence. The accused has been identified as Momin and is a resident of Nuh in Haryana. He had reportedly uploaded a fake video of vandalism in Jama Masjid on YouTube. The police have so far arrested 75 accused in the case.
