‘Will never forget their sacrifice’: PM Modi, Amit Shah pay homage to Pulwama martyrs

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Army led the nation on Friday to pay tributes to the 40 CRPF soldiers martyred in the 2019 Pulwama terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir with Home Minister Amit Shah vowing to “completely destroy terrorists” in line with the Centre’s “zero tolerance” policy.

“Homage to the courageous heroes we lost in Pulwama in 2019. The coming generations will never forget their sacrifice and their unwavering dedication to the nation,” PM Modi said in a post on X.

Amit Shah, too, paid heartfelt tributes to the martyred soldiers while reiterating the Modi government’s commitment to combat terrorism, which he said is the biggest enemy of the human race.

“On behalf of the grateful nation, I pay my heartfelt tribute to the soldiers who were martyred in the cowardly terrorist attack in Pulwama on this day in the year 2019. Terrorism is the biggest enemy of the entire human race and the whole world has united against it,” he wrote in a post on X.
“Be it a surgical strike or an air strike, the Modi government is determined to completely destroy the terrorists by running a campaign with a ‘zero tolerance’ policy against them,” he added.
Indian Army’s Chinar Corps, deployed in Jammu and Kashmir, shared pictures of all 40 CRPF men killed in the terror attack in homage to the “intrepid warriors”.

“Chinar Warriors pay obeisance to the CRPF Bravehearts, who laid down their lives in the line of duty during the Pulwama attack. Their sacrifice will forever be etched in our hearts. Saluting the unyielding spirit of CRPF, who continue to brave the toughest challenges to safeguard our Nation and ensure peace and development in Kashmir.”

The Chinar Corps is a unit of the Indian Army that is responsible for military operations in Kashmir Valley. It is also known as the XV Corps.

On 14 February 2019, the Pakistan-based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammad carried out an attack on a bus ferrying Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel in Pulwama, killing 40 jawans.

In response, days later, Indian Air Force fighter jets conducted airstrikes on terror training camps in Balakot, deep in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
