Defence tech companies SAMTEL and HENSOLDT sign MOU for co-production in India

A key player in building high-technology rugged military systems and products, SAMTEL Avionics signed a Memorandum Of Understanding(MOU) with experienced defence company HENSOLDT. Signed on February 12, the two companies will explore possibilities to set up a co-production facilities in India. The facilities will produce HENSOLDT’S defence products LCR 100, Cavi Sight and Cavi Connect.

Cavi Sight is a Navigation System that can be used by Police forces, Firefighters and Military. The product is aimed at setting new standards for precise and safe landings, especially helicopters and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). The system allows landing in all types of locations geographically, ranging from dense forests to urban areas.

Since aircraft missions also require a reliable communication system, CAVI Connect will also be developed. Equipped with up to four simultaneous data connections, CaviConnect will allow operators to exchange data between the ground and active aircraft.

The two companies will also co-produce The SferiRec LCR 100. The lightweight flight recorder will combine the voice, date and video recordings.

Expressing his elation for the collaboration SAMTEL Avionics’ MD and CEO, Puneet Kaura said that he looked forward to a long-term relationship in the field of innovative avionics solutions, specifically designed to improve the efficiency and safety of aerial operations.

Eugen Maier, Head of Sales Airborne Solutions, HENSOLDT Avionics said that he was confident that the new indigenised products tailored for Indian requirements in partnership with SAMTEL has huge potential in both civil and military domain of aviation in India and will increase the safety factors of the platforms manifold.

The collaboration is special and significant as it will bring together two experienced industry giants, increasing the potential of output in defence technology. SAMTEL has a multi-dimensional presence in domains like Defence & Avionics, Railways and Education. HENSOLDT Avionics too is a leading company in the European defence industry with global reach. The company also plans extend its portfolio of system solutions.
The collaboration is a step to enhance India’s defence technology equipments.
