Uttarakhand: Only 60% online registration for Char Dham yatra, starting next week

Dehradun: The online registration for the upcoming Char Dham Yatra is set to begin from next week. The state government has already started its exercise for the online registration of devotees. The administration has set a deadline as April 15 for making all arrangements for the Char Dham properly. This year there will be 60 percent online registration while the remaining 40 percent will be offline.

The date of the opening of the Badrinath’s door is set as May 4. The dates of the opening of the remaining four shrines- Kedaranth, Gangotri, and Yamunotri will be announced on Mahashivratri festival on Akshya Tritiya. The administration has swung into action in view of the possible dates of opening the doors of all the four shrines between April 30 to May 4.

Yatra routes will be divided into sectors

At the meeting of the Char Dham Yatra management and control organization at Rishikesh on Wednesday, it was decided to divide the Yatra routes in different sectors. One sector will be functional in 10 kilometres on Yatra routes. Apart from the district magistrates concerned, Tirth Purohits (priests) also attended the meeting which Garhwal Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey chaired. Cheeta police will patrol every 10 km on Yatra routes. Apart from Haridwar and Rishikesh, the offline registration center will also be opened in Vikasnagar.

Early start of the online registration

The delay in the online registration had created problems for the administration last year and thus, it was decided to start the online registration from the next week. Transport department suggested making a green card for the private vehicles. Tirth Purohits also underlined the need for improving the token and online registration system.

Efforts to ensure proper health services

During the Char Dham Yatra, the Heli-service of the AIIMS, Rishikesh will also strengthen the health services. The AIIMS administration has also assured the administration of extending all help to it during the Char Dham Yatra. Apart from the Heli services of AIIMs, the helicopter of the state’s disaster management department will also be available 24X7.
