New Delhi: Gangster Joginder Jeong was arrested at the Delhi airport on Sunday morning after being deported from the Philippines. He was arrested by the special cell of Delhi Police and Haryana Police in a joint operation.

Jeong deported through Interpol channels: CBI‘Jeong was involved in various criminal cases’

A native of Haryana, he stayed in the Philippines for several years and was operating criminal activities. He has been convicted in 15 cases, which include five murder cases. He was detained by the Bureau of Immigration (BI) in July last year after the Global Operations Centre of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) closely coordinated with Philippines authorities.

Jeong deported through Interpol channels: CBI

Issuing a statement, the CBI said, “Red Notice subject Joginder Gyong, wanted by Haryana and other States for Criminal conspiracy, Murder, and other heinous crimes returned from the Philippines through INTERPOL Channels.”

“CBI on the request of Haryana Police had got a Red Notice issued against the subject from INTERPOL on 25.10.2024 and was circulated to all the law enforcement agencies globally for tracking of the wanted criminal. On the strength of Red Notice, subject Joginder Gyong, was deported from the Philippines via Bangkok to Delhi,” it added.

‘Jeong was involved in various criminal cases’

As per CBI, Jeong was involved in criminal cases in various parts of the including in Delhi for the crimes of robbery, murder, attempt to murder in attempts to commit extortion, and kidnapping for ransom.

Sharing further details, the CBI said that Gyong, against whom a Red Notice was issued, was detained after he arrived at the IGI Airport from Bangkok. “Since the subject was also wanted by Delhi Police, he was handed over to Special Cell, Southern Range, Delhi Police today i.e. 02.02.2025, for further action,” it added.

It may be noted that the CBI, being the National Central Bureau for INTERPOL in India, also coordinates all Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) in India closely for cooperation and assistance through INTERPOL Channels. More than 100 wanted criminals have returned to India since 2021 with CBI’s help.
