New Delhi: With days to go for the polling, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has intensified its election campaign in Delhi. Nearly 246 NDA MPs on Saturday visited various localities in Delhi to seek support from the voters. They will continue their campaigning on Sunday as well.
BJP President JP Nadda had earlier appealed to all NDA MPs to stay in Delhi this week and focus on the election campaign. After which, MPs from BJP, JD(U), Shiv Sena, LJP, and TDP, began campaigning for NDA candidates across the city.
The party’s focus is on grassroot-level campaigning and Delhi BJP’s district presidents have been assigned to manage the campaign. They have also been asked to assign the MPs to specific assembly constituencies based on demographics. The micro-management of the campaign ensures that MPs from specific regions, such as those from Bihar visit areas with a significant presence of voters from the state.
BJP is leaving no stone unturned to win Delhi
With only two days left until the election, the saffron party is leaving no stone unturned in its efforts to win the Union Territory. The party is keen on connecting with voters in every corner of the city.
This year’s Delhi Assembly election has turned into a three-cornered contest. The AAP, in power for 10 years, faces a stiff challenge from the BJP to retain the power. The Arvind Kejriwal-led party is also under attack from its INDIA bloc ally Congress. Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi have been actively campaigning in the city which is scheduled to go to polls on February 5. The results will be declared on February 8.
Meanwhile, BJP leader and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, while campaigning for BJP candidates, claimed that the people of Delhi would show the AAP government the door on February 5, as they have been deprived of their basic rights for the last 10 years.
Addressing a gathering of the south Indian community at JLN Stadium, Jaishankar referred to the BJP’s ‘Sankalp Patra’ which promises financial aid and benefits for Delhiites.

He highlighted the BJP’s commitments, including providing Rs 2,500 per month for women, establishment of Atal Canteens, and free treatment for senior citizens above the age of 70.
The external affairs minister said that foreign leaders curiously seek to know from him about schemes like free ration, houses for the poor, gas cylinders provided under the Ujjwala scheme and other initiatives in the country. “I, however, hide one thing… I feel ashamed to tell them that in the capital of India, people don’t get benefits of houses, gas cylinders and the Ayushman Bharat scheme,” he said.
Jaishankar further said that Delhi should serve as a model for the best practices in the country. However, under the AAP government, Delhi has fallen behind in terms of development and implementation of welfare schemes.
“Water, electricity, cooking gas cylinders, houses and health are your right. The people of Delhi did not get their rights in the past 10 years. So on February 5, they will decide if this government should remain in power or not,” he said.
