Prayagraj: At least 30 people have lost their lives in a stampede on the banks of Sangam during Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj on Wednesday, said DIG of Kumbh and Mela Officer. Many others have been injured and are receiving treatment at a hospital set up in Sector-2 of the Kumbh area.
The incident took place due to the immense crowd pressure at the Mela. According to the DIG of Kumbh, the heavy crowd caused the barricades to collapse, leading to people being crushed in the chaos.
