Hyderabad: The 2BHK units that were left unfinished under the previous BRS government may likely be put under the Idiramma housing scheme in Telangana. These may be allotted to poor landless people in the state.
Now, the Congress led Telangana government has decided to give these 2 BHK units to landless poor after the completion of the project. Some of the finished flats are still lying vacant. The total 2BJK units are estimated to be around a lakh.
DC’s ordered to identify beneficiaries
The state government led by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has ordered the District Collectors to identify the poor beneficiaries and prepare a list for the final handover. The DC are also asked to check the number of completed and incomplete units, said a report in Times of India.
The report further stated that eligible poor have land will also qualify for the first phase of Indiramma housing scheme. The scheme has been launched from January 26.
Many 2BHK units suffered seepage
Following the directions from the chief minister, state government officials conducted a survey for the scheme. The survey recorded that 1,54,389 units were completed. The previous BRS government had sanctioned 1,54,389 units out of the total 2,92,938 2-BHKs. While the construction of 34,022 houses was stopped midway, 41,925 houses reached final construction process.
While the construction of over 62,000 flats did not begin, Telangana government cancelled these units as the work on them did not start during previous government tenure.
Many of these 2-BHK units suffered structural damage due to seepage during rains. Many of the units that were allotted to beneficiaries remained unoccupied due to their bad conditions. These flats were allotted after a draw of lot.
