New Delhi: A week after a blaze destroyed 70 to 80 huts and 8 to 10 tents at the Maha Kumbh Mela in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj, another fire broke out at the venue early Saturday morning. According to reports, two vehicles parked on the main road leading to the Maha Kumbh Mela site caught fire. Multiple fire tenders were dispatched to control the flames.

Uttar Pradesh fire services officer Vishal Yadav confirmed the incident, while talking to news agency PTI, he said, “We received information that a fire broke out in a Maruti Ertiga car at around 6.30am. Six fire brigades and water tenders were sent immediately and the fire was controlled. No one was harmed in the fire.”

‘Fire broke out due to extreme heat’

Explaining the cause of the fire, Yadav attributed it to extreme heat generated by the large number of vehicles parked for the ongoing Maha Kumbh. Devotees are coming from far-flung areas and have parked their vehicles here. The fire broke out due to extreme heat. Fire engines have reached the spot and the fire has been controlled. The Ertiga car is completely burnt and the Venue car is partially burnt. There are no casualties in the incident, everyone is safe,” Yadav added.

On January 19, a cylinder explosion at one of the camps caused fire at the mela venue. That fire had destroyed 70 to 80 huts and 8 to 10 tents. Four teams from the National Disaster Response Force were deployed to bring the flames under control.

CM Yogi to review preparations today

Meanwhile, a massive influx of devotees is pouring into the holy city ahead of Mauni Amavasya on January 29, the second “Amrit Snan” will take place on that day. Chief minister Yogi Adityanath will spend five hours in the Maha Kumbh Nagar today to review preparations related to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s programme.

According to reports, PM Modi will set to attend the Maha Kumbh on February 5 and will take a holy dip.
