New Delhi: Former Delhi Chief Minister on Wednesday slammed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for raising ‘írrelevant’ issues in their campaign for the upcoming assembly elections. Kejriwal said the saffron party was more concerned about the brand, colour and price of his jackets and shirts.

AAP chief said that instead of making an issue out of his clothes, BJP must try to share their vision on issue directly affecting the common man of the national capital.

“I still wear my muffler when I am outside, I removed it (muffler) just now, before entering the studio. BJP says Kejriwal is wearing Rs 25,000 jacket, but I want to tell them it is very easily available for just Rs 2,500 in Chandni Chowk,” said the former Delhi CM during an exclusive interaction with TV9 Bharatvarsh.

Kejriwal challenges BJP to share their vision for Delhi

During the interaction, Kejriwal was also joined by Delhi CM Atishi, and party colleagues – Manish Sisodia, Raghav Chadha, and Saurabh Bhardwaj. Kejriwal challenged BJP to share their vision for Delhi.

“People of Delhi have nothing to do with the price of Kejriwal’s jacket, shirt or trouser; public is worried about issue like their future, employment and development of Delhi. So, BJP should speak about their vision on these issues,” added Kejriwal.

Will abusing me help in Delhi’s development: Kejriwal

All my election speeches mostly include details about the work done by my government in last 10 years, and my vision for Delhi, while BJP’s campaign is based on abusing me. I want to ask them, will abusing me help in Delhi’s development,” added Kejriwal.

In the run up to the Delhi polls, AAP, BJP and Congress parties are involved in an intense election campaign before February 5 when voting will take for the 70 Assembly seats in the national capital. The counting of votes and announcement of results will take place in February 8.

Parvesh Verma sends Rs 100 crore defamation notice to Kejriwal

BJP and AAP were involved in a war-of-words over the alleged misuse of Punjab government machinery for the election campaign in Delhi. While BJP leader Parvesh Verma claimed that several vehicles with Punjab registrations numbers and stickers of Punjab government being are being seen in the national capital and questioned their intentions just ahead of Republic Day, to which AAP rebutted with allegations that Verma and BJP have insulted people of Punjab by questioning their presence in Delhi.

However, Verma announced to file Rs 100 crore defamation suits against Kejriwal and Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann for levelling ‘false allegations’ against him. Verma issued legal notices to both AAP leaders and demanded an apology within 48 hours.

The notice charged Kejriwal and Mann for allegedly defaming Verma with “false misleading statements baseless tweets/re-tweets dated 21.1.2025 with distortion/misquoting to defame/blame and conspire.”
