Should Sunita Kejriwal enter politics? Arvind Kejriwal says this

New Delhi: Arvind Kejriwal, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor, confirmed in an interview with TV9 Network that his wife, Sunita Kejriwal, will not be entering politics. This statement comes shortly after the AAP announced her as a star campaigner for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections.

While Sunita Kejriwal has appeared alongside her husband during previous campaigns, such as the 2020 Delhi Assembly elections, her role has largely been supportive rather than official.

Her involvement as a star campaigner increased after Kejriwal’s jail in March of last year, with appearances in campaigns for the Lok Sabha, Jammu and Kashmir, and Haryana elections. However, the AAP saw limited success in these elections, except for one victory in the J&K Assembly.

Despite her inclusion on the star campaigner list for the Delhi elections, Sunita Kejriwal maintains a low public profile. Although not known as a mass leader or orator, her presence has often provided emotional support for her husband during key moments, such as his protest at the Delhi L-G’s house in 2018 and his imprisonment in 2024.

Sunita Kejriwal has generally refrained from public statements, typically appearing alongside her husband on important occasions but maintaining a quiet presence. Even amidst speculation about a potential successor to Kejriwal as Chief Minister, she remained out of the spotlight. Her most notable public statements have been during Kejriwal’s absences, such as conveying his messages to the people of Delhi during his protest and imprisonment.

Working as an officer in the Indian Revenue Service (IRS), Sunita Kejriwal took a voluntary retirement in 2016.
