North India weather: IMD warns of further temperature drop, dense fog in these states

New Delhi: Rain and dense fog have increased the problems for people in North India amid severe cold over the last few days. According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), a drop of 2 to 3 degrees Celsius in temperature is expected in northeast region of the country as well as some parts of Central India in the coming days.

Additionally, strong winds along with rain are predicted in the eastern part of the country. Temperatures may remain below zero in many districts of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

Cold way warning in Delhi

IMD has issued a warning of dense fog in several states of North India, including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan. A cold day warning has been issued for Delhi on January 13.

According to IMD, dense fog will persist in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan from January 13 to January 16. The minimum temperature in these states is also expected to drop by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius.

In the next few days, temperatures in Uttarakhand are expected to range between 1 and 5 degrees Celsius. In Himachal Pradesh, as well as in the northeastern, central, and eastern regions of India, temperatures may range between 6 and 12 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature has been recorded at 5 degrees Celsius.

According to IMD, temperatures have dropped by 2 to 6 degrees Celsius in many areas of Rajasthan and Gujarat in the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, temperatures have risen by 1 to 5 degrees Celsius in East Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir – Ladakh, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttarakhand, and Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi. A cold day warning has also been issued for Delhi.

Dense fog alert for these states

Dense fog is likely in many states of North India from January 13 to January 16. There is a warning of dense fog in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan on January 13 and 14. A cold day warning has also been issued for Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Punjab on January 13.
