‘Need your support…’: CM Atishi launches crowdfunding campaign to fight Delhi polls

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, who is running for the Kalkaji assembly seat, on Sunday launched a crowdfunding campaign to fight the upcoming assembly polls in February.

Urging people to make contribution for her election campaign on X, Atishi wrote: “Together, we can continue this journey of progress and hope.”

She wrote on X, “Over the past 5 years, you’ve stood by me as an MLA, a minister, and now as the Chief Minister of Delhi. None of this would have been possible without your blessings and support. As a young, educated woman, your belief and donations have enabled me to imagine a career in politics — a path I couldn’t have walked alone. Now, as we face another election campaign, I need your support once again.”

After this, she shared a link where the contribution can be made. The AAP leader wrote: Please contribute to my crowdfunding campaign and share this link to help spread the word: http://atishi.aamaadmiparty.org. Atishi will contest against former MP and BJP’s Ramesh Bhiduri from the Kalkaji seat.

‘We run our govt with honesty, run our houses through salaries’

Atishi was quoted as saying by PTI: “The BJP gains power through money and earns money when in power. They might have earned so much that they don’t need to collect money for elections. But we run our government with honesty, run our houses through salaries. That is why we want people’s support to fight elections. Today when we are doing crowd funding, then it is the biggest proof of our honesty… With BJP’s candidate list, it has become clear that they are not finding candidates for the elections. They are still to announce 12 candidates.”

She pointed out that since the formation of the Aam Aadmi Party, the common people of Delhi have supported the party and contributed funds for the elections. In 2013 as well, people made small donations during the election. “After street plays, we used to spread out a sheet to collect funds.”

“We don’t take money from industrialist friends to fight elections. Those who take donations from industrialists end up running the government for them. But the Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi, led by Arvind Kejriwal, works for the common people because they are the ones who fund our elections. If we had to fight elections with funds from big schools, hospitals, or pharmaceutical companies, we wouldn’t be able to address their issues properly.”

Meanwhile, AAP has started putting up billboards across the city, showcasing a prominent image of the former CM interacting with people, with the slogan ‘Phir Laenge Kejriwal’.
