New Delhi: The Electricity Department in the Salaslai area of Shajapur district in Madhya Pradesh has started seizing bikes of consumers with high outstanding dues on irrigation connections. The action is being carried out under the directives of the District Collector.

Manoj Malviya, Junior Engineer at the Electricity Distribution Centre, said that over 10,000 defaulters have been targeted under this initiative. The Collector’s issuance of recovery certificates (RCs) has led to the seizure of seven motorcycles, with a total outstanding amount of Rs 4.38 lakh. Malviya said that this campaign will continue, with defaulters urged to pay their pending bills.

Defaulters given 15-day ultimatum

The department had previously issued multiple notices to the defaulters, but due to non-payment, the vehicles were seized. Defaulters now have 15 days to clear their dues or their vehicles will be auctioned in accordance with regulations.
