Sambhal mosque row: Court commissioner submits survey report on Shahi Jama Masjid

Sambhal: The court commissioner, who was appointed by the local court to conduct a survey of Sambhal’s Shahi Jama Masjid, on Thursday (January 2) submit before the Chandausi court a detailed survey report of the mosque.

The report, which was compiled during the survey conducted on November 19 and November 24. was submitted by court commissioner Ramesh Singh Raghav includes videography of the mosque from all angles.

Report has been submitted in a sealed envelop

Raghav told the reporters after submitting the report, which is believed to run into 40 to 45 pages, that the survey covered Sambhal’s Shahi Jama Masjid and it was conducted as per the directions of the court.

The report has been submitted in a sealed envelop as per direction of the Supreme Court.

“The survey was conducted according to the directions of the court and the complete report, including videography, has been submitted today to the Civil Judge Senior Division in a sealed envelope,” Raghav said, news agency PTI reported.

Sambhal court had on November 19 allowed a plea filed by the Hindu side

A Sambhal court had on November 19 allowed a plea filed by the Hindu side seeking survey of the Shahi Jama Masjid, saying that it is probable that the report of the survey will facilitate the court in deciding the case and ordered ordering for the survey of the mosque. The Hindu side has claimed that Sambhal’s Shahi Jama Masjid was built on the same location where Harihar temple stood earlier.

Supreme Court directed Sambhal court to halt proceedings

The apex court, while hearing a plea filed by the Committee of Management, Shahi Jama Masjid, Sambhal seeking stay on the order of the Sambhal court, directed the Sambhal court to halt proceedings in the case and not to pass any order in the matter related to survey of the mosque and not to open any survey report till the matter is heard by the appellate court.
