New Delhi: Firing a fresh salvo at the Aam Aadmi Party ahead of the Delhi assembly election, the BJP on Thursday accused the ruling party of rigging the polls through double voting, raking up its MP Sanjay Singh’s name who it claimed was registered from two seats.
Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva claimed Sanjay Singh’s name was mentioned in voter lists of New Delhi Tilak Nagar constituencies for the upcoming election and called on the Election Commission and the police to take notice.
“When Sanjay Singh became a Rajya Sabha member in 2018, his affidavit said his vote is registered in the Hari Nagar assembly. At the same time, the voter list of Sultanpur municipality includes his and his family’s name… For the upcoming elections, his name is mentioned in the voter list of New Delhi and also the Tilak Nagar assemblies,” he said.
The Election Commission and Delhi Police should take cognisance of this. On 4 January 2024, Anita Singh claimed that her vote was cut from the Sultanpur assembly. On 8 January 2024, she gave an affidavit in which she stated that her vote is registered in the Sultanpur assembly,” Sachdeva told a press conference.

He also brought in Sanjay Singh’s wife in the attack, claiming her name was also found to be mentioned in more than one voter lists.
“On 4 January 2024, Anita Singh claimed that her vote was cut from the Sultanpur assembly. On 8 January 2024, she gave an affidavit in which she stated that her vote is registered in the Sultanpur assembly,” he added.
Sachdeva said Kejriwal runs away from major issues in Delhi such as dirty water, broken roads and would never talk about his scams.
The Delhi assembly elections are expected to take place in February 2025, though the Election Commission of India has yet to confirm the official dates.
The Congress party, which governed Delhi for 15 consecutive years, has struggled in the last two assembly elections, failing to secure a single seat. In the 2020 elections, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) claimed a dominant victory, winning 62 out of 70 seats, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) managed to secure eight seats.
