PM Modi heads to Kuwait for 2-day visit: What key issues will be discussed?

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi left for a two-day visit to Kuwait on Saturday morning. This marks the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Kuwait in 43 years. PM Modi’s plane departed for Kuwait at 9.15 am and is expected to arrive in Kuwait at 11.35 am local time. He has been invited to the nation by Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Amir of the State of Kuwait.

In a post on X, he said, “Today and tomorrow, I will be visiting Kuwait. This visit will deepen India’s historical linkages with Kuwait. I look forward to meeting His Highness the Amir, the Crown Prince and the Prime Minister of Kuwait. This evening, I will be interacting with the Indian community and will also attend the inauguration ceremony of the Arabian Gulf Cup. ”

What will PM Modi do during his visit?

PM Modi’s visit will be packed with key engagements, starting with a visit to a local labour camp at 2.50 pm. After this, the Prime Minister will address a gathering of 4,000 to 5,000 members of the Indian community at the Sheikh Saad Al Abdullah Indoor Sports Complex. PM Modi’s speech is expected to resonate with the Indian diaspora, strengthening the bond between India and Kuwait’s people.

PM Modi’s visit is set to bring new warmth to the relationship between India and Kuwait. More than 1 million Indians reside in Kuwait, making up the largest foreign community in the country. This visit is expected to further enhance the bond between the two countries, with significant discussions about strengthening cooperation across various sectors.

During his visit, PM Modi will meet with the Emir and Crown Prince of Kuwait to discuss a wide range of issues, including energy, hydrocarbons, and business relations. The two nations are expected to explore further opportunities for collaboration, particularly in energy sectors such as oil and natural gas. Business relations will also be a key focus, with discussions on trade in local currency to enhance economic ties.
