Bengaluru: Nikita Singhania, estranged wife of Bengaluru techie Atul Subhash, who committed suicide alleging mental harassment by his wife and her family members, her mother and her brother moved a local court seeking bail in abetment to suicide case registered against them by the Bengaluru Police following techie’s suicide.

Nikita, her mother Nisha Singhania and her brother Anurah Singhania are currently lodged in judicial custody. While Nikita was arrested from Gurugram, Haryana, her mother and brother were picked up from Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh on December 14 for allegedly abetting Atul’s ’s suicide.

A case of abetment of suicide was registered on a complaint by Atul’s brother

The Bengaluru police registered a case of abetment of suicide against Nikita, her mother, brother and uncle Sushil Singhania following a complaint lodged by deceased Atul’s brother. Nikita’s uncle was recently granted anticipatory bail by the Allahabad High Court in the suicide case.

Nikita, her mother and her brother were brought to Bengaluru after their arrest in the case and they sent to 14-day judicial custody after being produced before a local court.

“Nikita, her mother, and brother moved the joint bail plea on Thursday before a local court. They are currently in judicial custody,” news agency PTI quoted a senior police officer as saying.

Atul left behind a 24-page death note and video message

Atul left behind a 24-page purported death note as well as a video message in which he talked in detail the emotional distress he allegedly faced arising out of matrimonial issues, multiple cases getting lodged against him and harassment by his wife and relatives and an Uttar Pradesh-based judge hearing cases related to his marital disputes. The couple had a son in 2020.

Atul’s mother has moved Supreme Court for custody of her grandson

In a related news, Atul’s mother Anju Modi has moved the Supreme Court seeking custody of her four-year-old grandson whose whereabouts are not known and the top court, while hearing her plea has issued notice to the state governments of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Karanataka to provide clarity on the issue.
