BJP veteran LK Advani admitted to Apollo hospital in Delhi as health worsens

New Delhi: Senior BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani’s health has worsened and due to this, he has been admitted to Apollo Hospital in Delhi. The 97-year-old politician, whose condition had been deteriorating over the last few days, was admitted on Saturday. According to Apollo sources, his condition is currently stable and a medical bulletin will be issued shortly.

This marks the fourth time in recent months that Advani has been hospitalised, with previous admissions in August, July and June. On July 3, Advani was admitted to Apollo Hospital, while on June 26, he was hospitalised at AIIMS in Delhi. There, he was monitored by the Neurology Department and underwent minor surgery the next day before being discharged.

Advani misses public events due to health issues

Advani, who has been struggling with ongoing health issues, has refrained from attending public events in recent months. Despite his health challenges, he was honoured with the Bharat Ratna earlier this year. Due to his condition, he could not attend the award ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Advani receives Bharat Ratna at home

Instead, the award was conferred at his residence by President Draupadi Murmu on March 30, in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh. In addition to the Bharat Ratna, Advani was awarded the Padma Vibhushan in 2015. He has served as the Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister during the tenure of the Vajpayee government.
