New Delhi: India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday forecasted cold wave for several states across the country for the next seven days. Southern India is likely to receive heavy rainfall due to a low-pressure system in the Bay of Bengal. Northern regions are likely to experience cold waves, dense fog and snowfall driven by a western disturbance.

A low-pressure area has formed over the southeast Bay of Bengal, influenced by an upper air cyclonic circulation. This system is likely to intensify over the next 24 hours and move west-northwestwards, eventually reaching the southwest Bay of Bengal, near Tamil Nadu and Sri Lanka, by December 11.

Weather forecast for Punjab, Haryana

A western disturbance is affecting the north, causing light to moderate rainfall or snowfall in Himalayan region and dense fog across parts of the northern plains and eastern states. Cold wave conditions are also likely to grip parts of Rajasthan.
