Dehradun: Chief secretary Radha Raturi, who chaired the 11th meeting of the high-powered committee of the Water supply programme on Monday, gave clear instructions to the authorities concerned to include the water consumers, including women, in the social audit.

The state government wants to make the social audit of water supply schemes effective. The government prefers to collect feedback from women regarding drinking water schemes.

Chief secretary Radha Raturi asked the officials concerned to   keep in mind the satisfaction of common citizens regarding the drinking water supply. She gave emphasis on adopting the best practices in this field and developing a grievance redressal mechanism.

The meeting of the 11th High Powered Committee (HPC) of Uttarakhand Water Supply Program, which was assisted by the World Bank, Raturi has directed the drinking water department and other officials concerned to immediately send a letter to the Government of India seeking the extension of the time-limit of Jal Jeevan Mission.

Focus is on uninterrupted supply of the best quality of drinking water

She also underlined the need for paying special attention to the uninterrupted supply of the quality drinking water to the public. Raturi has instructed to register all the performance indicators in the state of art MIS on the user-friendly dashboard under the best practices.

Chief secretary asked the officials to strengthen the complaint redressal mechanism

The Chief Secretary Raturi focussed on strengthening the complaint redressal mechanism by sending auto-alerts through SMS to the concerned engineers in case of gaps in service delivery and to resolve the complaints within 48 hours. She made it clear to the officials concerned to ensure satisfaction of the drinking water supply consumers.

Administrative and financial approval to a proposal relating to the extension of the project management consultancy firm

At the meeting, she also gave administrative and financial approval to a proposal relating to the extension of the time-limit of the project management consultancy firm for the Uttarakhand water supply program, besides the environmental audit of this program.

Simultaneously, she gave administrative and financial approval to a proposal relating to the hiring of consultancy services for Implementations Completion and Result Report (ICR) for the Uttarakhand water supply program. She also approved the extension of the time-limit of Moholia and Umrukhurd water supply schemes of the Uttarakhand Payjal Nigam.

The water-supply is being made for 16 hours daily

Currently under the Uttarakhand Water Supply Program, assisted by the World Bank at a cost of Rs. 975 crores, the water supply is being made for 16 hours daily. Under this scheme, around 106202 water connections have been provided to the people. The World Bank has also expressed satisfaction over the scheme.
