Received death threats for filing Ajmer dargah suit, claims petitioner Vishnu Gupta

New Delhi: Hindu Sena chief Vishnu Gupta, who has filed a civil lawsuit before an Ajmer court claiming that the Sufi Saint Moinuddin Chishti dargah in the city was built over a Shiva temple, has lodged a complaint with the Delhi Police alleging that he has received death threats for filing the said lawsuit.

Gupta said that he he has filed a complaint in this regard with the Barakhamba Road police station in the national capital after he received two calls threatening to kill him for filing the lawsuit before the Ajmer court.

Gupta, in his complaint to the police, has said that he received two death threat calls – one made by an Indian number and another from Canada and the caller told him, I will kill you if you don’t withdraw your Ajmer Dargah Sharif case.”

Gupta requested police to provide him security

Gupta, while requesting the police to provide him security, said in his complaint that he had received many death threats previously from different persons as he is a party in the Krishna Janmbhoomi and Gyanvapi case.

Police has said that they are looking into the complaint made by Gupta.

Gupta filed lawsuit in Ajmer court in September

Gupta filed the suit before the Ajmer court in September seeking to declare the Ajmer Dargah – the mausoleum of Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti – as Bhagwan Shri Sankatmochan Mahadev Virajman temple. He has sought removal of unauthorised illegal occupation of Dargah committee, a scientific survey of the premises conducted by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and directions to start the worship in the temple again.

Ajmer court on Wednesday issued notices on Gupta’s suit

The Ajmer court, while hearing Gupta’s plea, directed on Wednesday that notices be issued to the Ajmer Dargah Committee, Ministry of Minority Affairs and ASI office in New Delhi and sought their responses to Gupta’s plea.
