Ranchi: Hemant Soren is set to take the oath as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand for the fourth time on November 28 at 4 pm. This will mark the formation of the Soren government once again with the strong position of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)-led alliance in the state.

Several political leaders from across the country will attend the swearing-in ceremony. Key figures from the INDIA alliance will be present, including Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Nationalist Congress Party leader Sharad Pawar. Other attendees will include Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, and Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu. Leaders such as Arvind Kejriwal, Mehbooba Mufti, Tejashwi Yadav, Akhilesh Yadav and DK Shivakumar will also be present.

JMM-Congress discussions

Initially, it was decided that Hemant Soren would take the oath alone. However, Congress strategists raised concerns that such a move might send the wrong message about the party’s role in the alliance.

To address this, Congress initiated discussions with JMM leadership to ensure representation in the cabinet. These talks have added a layer of complexity, as Congress has yet to finalize the names of its four ministers.

Congress yet to decide names

The issue has now been escalated to senior Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge. They are expected to hold consultations in Parliament to decide whether all four names will be finalized or if only one minister will be named for now.

If the matter remains unresolved, Soren may proceed with the oath-taking alone, with the cabinet appointments addressed later.
