‘Need to know ground reality’: BJP’s rebuttal as Raut claims conspiracy in Maharashtra poll trends

Mumbai: BJP leader Praveen Darekar on Saturday slammed Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut over his allegations of a conspiracy in the Maharashtra assembly elections results as the ruling Mahayuti headed for a comfortable win with a lead on 220 seats, way beyond the 145 majority mark.

BJP leader Pravin Darekar said Sanjay Raut needs to land his aircraft on the ground and the latest counting trends have proved that one cannot win the election by only badmouthing and demeaning their rivals and they should understand the ground reality.

“The people of Maharashtra have voted for development and the dharma yuddha Devendra Fadnavis had called for to unite everyone..Maharashtra will further progress when there is a BJP govt both in the state and Centre. This is the reason the public has voted for us. I especially thank the Ladli Behenas in the state. The CM will be of BJP; I think Devendra Fadnavis will be the CM,” he said while speaking to reporters in Mumbai.

The rebuttal comes after Raut cried foul over the results with the trends suggesting the BJP-NCP-Shiva Sena’s Mahayuti is heading for a landslide victory in Maharashtra, saying it does not reflect the people’s mandate and the situation on the ground is “very different”.

I see a big conspiracy in this…This is not a mandate of Marathi ‘manoos’ and farmers. We do not accept this as people’s mandate. Something is fishy in the election results,” Raut said.

While Mahayuti cruised towards victory, the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) stumbled with its candidates leading on just 48 seats as per the latest trends,

In the ruling Mahayuti alliance, the BJP contested 149 assembly seats, the Shiv Sena 81, and the Ajit Pawar-led NCP fielded candidates in 59 constituencies.

Within the MVA coalition, the Congress fielded 101 candidates, Shiv Sena (UBT) contested 95 seats, and NCP (SP) put forward candidates in 86 constituencies.
