New Delhi: Ahead of Delhi Assembly elections, former Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal launched the party’s program titled ‘Revdi Par Charcha’ on Friday. During this initiative, Kejriwal emphasised six key welfare schemes, referring to them as “revdis” (freebies).

He strongly criticised Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), warning of potential challenges for Delhi residents if BJP came to power. Kejriwal accused BJP of failing to provide 24-hour electricity in the 20 states where it governs. He claimed that Delhi and Punjab, under AAP’s leadership, stand out for offering uninterrupted and free electricity.

  • Free electricity with no power cuts: Kejriwal said that Delhi now enjoys uninterrupted 24-hour electricity, a feat not achieved in BJP-ruled states.
  • Free water up to 20,000 litres per month: Households in Delhi receive free water, ensuring affordability and access.
  • Free and quality education: Government schools in Delhi are known for their improved infrastructure and teaching standards, providing quality education at no cost.
  • Mohalla clinics: These mohalla clinics offer free and accessible healthcare to Delhi’s residents.
  • Free bus travel for women: Public transportation is free for women in Delhi.
  • Free pilgrimage for senior citizens: The government covers the cost of pilgrimages for the elderly, ensuring they can travel without financial burden.

Arvind Kejriwal criticises BJP

Kejriwal claimed that BJP-ruled states, including Gujarat, which has had a BJP government for over 30 years, still fail to provide 24-hour electricity. He said, “There is not a single BJP-ruled state with 24-hour electricity. If BJP comes to power in Delhi, electricity bills will rise, and long power cuts will return.”

He urged Delhi residents to think carefully before voting, saying, “Before pressing the lotus button, ask yourself if you want long power cuts and high bills, or if you want the broom button that ensures free and uninterrupted electricity.”

Kejriwal also contrasted Delhi with Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Gujarat, claiming that residents in these states face regular power cuts and high utility bills. He encouraged voters to call their friends and relatives in these states to compare electricity services.

Kejriwal positioned AAP as the only party capable of delivering affordable and quality services, saying, “In just 10 years, we have made electricity free and ensured 24-hour availability. We have shown that it is possible to provide quality services without burdening people financially.”
