During the recent poll campaigns in the Jharkhand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other BJP leaders had accused the  JMM-led state government of aiding the infiltration of Bangladeshis in the state. Addressing a rally recently, party president JP Nadda promised that all illegal infiltrators would be removed from the state if BJP comes to power.

The case was filed after an FIR was registered in June by Jharkhand Police at the Bariyatu police station in Ranchi. It was registered under several sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). While the first phase of the election will be held on November 13, the second phase of the polls will be held on November 20. The results will be announced on November 23.
