Dehradun: In view of the November 6 Almora bus accident which claimed 36 lives, all the cultural programmes proposed for the celebration of the state foundation day on November 8 have been cancelled. Now, the state government has decided to celebrate the state foundation day with simplicity. The government has directed the officials to organize service and cleanliness programmes in the state.

The government has decided not to hold any big celebrations, foundation laying ceremony and inauguration programme during the celebration of the state foundation day. Earlier, the government had planned to celebrate the state foundation day in a grand manner.

CM asked officials to assess the requirement of additional buses in the hill areas

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh has directed the officials to assess the requirement of additional bus services in the hill areas. As per the requirement, new vehicles would be purchased for providing their services in all such hill areas which require additional transportation services.

CM Dhami focuses on the crash barriers on the hill roads

In view of the festival season, he asked the officials to make arrangements of additional buses in all such areas which require improvement in transportation services. He once again underlined the need for placing crash barriers on the roads in the hill areas. He asked the officials to ensure stern action against all the erring officials in this matter. CM Dhami had earlier asked the officials to ensure pothole-free roads across the state.

The state government would provide care and education to 3-year-old girlchild Shivani who lost her parents

CM Dhami also announced that the state government would take the responsibility of providing care and education to the three-year-old girl child who lost her parents in the Almora bus accident. Shivani is a native of Birkhet village of Pauri district. Shivani was accompanying her parents in the ill-fated bus on the way to Ramnagar. She was seriously injured in the Almora bus accident and is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital. Her father Manoj Rawat, mother Charu Devi and Shivani had gone to their native village to celebrate Diwali festival. Her father Manoj was in the service of the horticulture department.
