On Sunday evening, in a unique show of support, a prayer ceremony was held in a Delhi temple for the win of Republican candidate and former President Donald Trump.

The event was led by Mahamandelshwar Swami Vedmutinand Saraswati, a revered spiritual leader, who performed a “hawan”—a traditional Hindu ritual of offering prayers and blessings through a sacred fire. Devotees gathered for the ceremony, invoking divine favour for Trump’s prospects in the November 5 election.

Election Day arrives amid record early voting

The US mandates voting on the first Tuesday of November, which falls this year on November 5. More than seven million Americans have already taken part in early voting.

Both candidates have concentrated their final campaign efforts on key battleground states, where results often decide the outcome. Trump and Harris have poured majority of their resources into Arizona, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Georgia, regions considered pivotal due to their closely split electorates.

Polling indicates tight contest

Recent polling reflects a highly competitive race. A survey by The New York Times and Siena College shows a near tie in voter support, with both candidates making strides in crucial states. Harris is ahead in North Carolina and Georgia, while Trump has significantly closed her lead in Pennsylvania. In Nevada, Harris maintains a slight edge, polling at 49% against Trump’s 46%. North Carolina, too, shows a close margin.
