Bengaluru: An IT employee in Bengaluru through a post on social media informs people about an important and concerning new scam by cab drivers. He said that a driver asked her friend to pay for the fuel otherwise the car would not be able to reach the airport. If she does not make the payment, she may miss her flight.
Shivam Sourav Jha a software developer posted on social media platform X, “There is a new scam by the cab drivers going on in Bengaluru which happens when you are heading to an airport. This happens particularly with girls.” He said that the cab drivers stop the vehicles midway saying that there is no fuel in the car and will ask you to pay at the petrol pump. He would say that he only need this much amount and remaining amount will be paid by him.”
Money is not returned back
He added that if you do not pay the amount he won’t move. Since you have to take the flight you will have to pay. After you pay the amount, he will take shortcut from inner road to avoid toll which will save him some price. When you reach your destination, he is required to pay the extra amount back to you. If you paid him Rs 1000 and the charge of your cab journey is 800, he is required to pay you Rs 200 back but he refuse to pay it and since you are in hurry you can’t waste your time. He said that this has happened with his friend today and it was the second time this has happened with her.

To this one netizen wrote, “Just on Saturday I took cab, and he took inner road even I asked repeatedly to take toll one. And that road is completely isolate and not even proper street light is there. Completely was on alert for that whole road till reach airport.”
Another user wrote, “It happened with me also. But I highly recommend using airport bus. Just book cab till nearest bus stand. But yes this issue needs to be addressed.”
