Xiaomi SU7 Ultra Is The New Nürburgring EV King

A prototype version of the Xiaomi SU7 has just shattered the Nürburgring record and set a lap time of 6:46.874. This is around 20 seconds faster than the Porsche Taycan Turbo S GT which lapped the Nurburgring in 7:07.550. This is incredible feat for a company which has just started in the world of automobiles.

British racing driver David Pittard who won the 2023 24h of the Nürburgring, was behind the wheel and this was achieved in a single attempt. Surprisingly the car lost power in between for around 10 seconds which makes us believe that this vehicle can go even faster. One thing to note is that this was a prototype variant which had a roll cage and barely any interior, we are yet to see if the full production model can achieve the same feat.

Xiaomi also unveiled the production model and said that it has nearly the same performance metrics as the prototype model. It comes with three electric models which when combined produce a 1,536 bhp. It will be able to hit 0-100 kmph in just 1.98 seconds and achieve a top speed of 350 kmph.

The Ultra has a lot a of changes over the regular model mainly related to the cooling of the vehicle. There are upgraded radiators, compressors, water pump, and cooling fans. Xiaomi has also fitted the Ultra with new dual chamber air springs and dampers, or Bilstein Evo T1 coilovers if the customer wishes so. It also gets upgraded brakes and features ceramic brakes.

It also gets a lot of aero additions as well and there is a front diffuser, a rear diffuser, new side skirts and a rear wing which is not the table top massive piece that the prototype version. The interior also features some new additions, a lot of Alcantara, a flat-bottom steering wheel and a more sportier looking UI for the infotainment display.

Deliveries will start from March 2025 and prices start at 814,900 Yuan (around Rs 96.01 lakh).
